Unity in the Community
Some of the most impressive work using the Three Principles has been in communities. Three Principles community based projects were pioneered by the late Dr. Roger Mills of the Center for Sustainable Change (www.centerforsustainablechange.org), a dear friend, mentor and teacher. The centre continues to boast unprecedented positive outcomes in community renewal, change and crime reduction. The Centre is now directed by the formidable Ami Chen Niam and Gabbriela Maldonado-Montano.
For us to help you create and conduct a successful and positive community based project what is required are a number of dedicated and committed key individuals from within that take an active interest and participate in the project. Projects can vary in size dependent upon the specific needs of each community. One thing that remains a fairly constant is the effect the project potentially has upon the whole community, not just those directly involved. Studies have show that when at least 15 to 20% of a community have become involved and positively effected by the Three Principles.

‘A human being is part of a whole, called by us the ‘Universe,’ a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.’
